Brick is an excellent choice for the environmentally conscience. Besides its durability, what makes brick so special?

  • Brick is a stronger, safer building material
  • Helps save money and energy by reducing energy bills
  • The energy required to mine, manufacture and transport brick is less than concrete, glass, steel, aluminum, fiber-cement products, or even wood (energy amounts calculated in BTU’s).
  • Deteriorates very slowly. Does not deteriorate as fast as wood and does not cause the dangers and safety issues that are presented by wood rot in a structure.
  • Comes from an abundant natural resource (clay)
  • Fire-resistant and does not emit toxic fumes when exposed to extreme temperatures.
  • No additional outside siding is needed. Brick looks beautiful alone, without siding or paint.
  • Brick does not need the maintenance of other materials (no repainting, or replacing)
  • Brick stands strong against bad weather conditions.
  • Brick can be recycled.
  • Bricks do not contain chemicals that are harmful to humans, the properties of a brick are inert.
