Brick Adds to Home Resale Value

Tuesday, July 14th, 2009

Brick adds to a homes resale value by 6% or more on average and it usually sells quicker. Buyers have confidence in brick homes and know that the brick material will be durable and long-lasting. Real estate agents know that brick is what their customers want.

Brick always looks great and there is no need to repaint brick before putting it on the market. Brick work does not need to be repaired before the sale because it is so durable.

Why will brick appeal to the future homebuyer?

  • Because of its known durability, brick homes usually have lower insurance costs.
  • Easier to heat and cool than other building materials. Saves an average of 8% on energy bills.
  • Curb-appeal. A classic style look that will appeal to more homebuyers.
  • Higher appraised values than other building materials.
  • Low maintenance costs.
  • Safety: fire-resistant, chemically inert (non-toxic), stands strong against bad weather conditions, and does not break down or rot.

There are few building materials that can boast all these benefits. Brick is definitely worth the investment!

Bricks: Building with Green Technology

Tuesday, July 14th, 2009

Brick is an excellent choice for the environmentally conscience. Besides its durability, what makes brick so special?

  • Brick is a stronger, safer building material
  • Helps save money and energy by reducing energy bills
  • The energy required to mine, manufacture and transport brick is less than concrete, glass, steel, aluminum, fiber-cement products, or even wood (energy amounts calculated in BTU’s).
  • Deteriorates very slowly. Does not deteriorate as fast as wood and does not cause the dangers and safety issues that are presented by wood rot in a structure.
  • Comes from an abundant natural resource (clay)
  • Fire-resistant and does not emit toxic fumes when exposed to extreme temperatures.
  • No additional outside siding is needed. Brick looks beautiful alone, without siding or paint.
  • Brick does not need the maintenance of other materials (no repainting, or replacing)
  • Brick stands strong against bad weather conditions.
  • Brick can be recycled.
  • Bricks do not contain chemicals that are harmful to humans, the properties of a brick are inert.
